Values

Life is about being thoughtful, having a conscience, being decent. Aristotle was talking about reflection and exploration, being able to look at what is going on with a certain level of clarity, and also facing the ambiguity. I am afraid of America, that it is not examining its way in politics and the world. What does that mean? It could mean, like it did in ancient Greece and Rome, the end of civilization. On a very basic level, it means the end of decency and integrity. Once values disappear, what are we left with? Nothing.

I am afraid of this existential world, and its significance. Too many political leaders have allowed the lapse of the most important thing they have: personal values. And when that goes, only bad things will follow.
